As part of the May 2022 Lendlease FutureSteps grant round, three recipients were awarded funding to assist vulnerable people by increasing the supply of accommodation and support services to those experiencing housing stress and homelessness. The grant recipients in this round are:

  • Mission Australia WA - Mission Australia delivers homelessness and crisis/prevention services through the provision of social/affordable housing and support services. FutureSteps provided a grant for $69,855 to facilitate the conversion of 4 units into one and two bedroom apartments in the remote WA community of Meekatharra. These units will provide short term accommodation for women and children escaping domestic violence and linking families with support services.

  • Anglicare WA (Challenge Grant) - Anglicare WA is one of Western Australia’s leading social service non-profit organisations, helping people in times of deepest need and playing a vital role in building strong relationships with families and communities, with a particular focus on poverty, mental health, family violence and intergenerational trauma. FutureSteps has awarded a challenge grant of $30,000 towards the repurposing of the Murray Hotel into accommodation for young people aged 18 - 25 with high needs who are experiencing homelessness.

  • Lighthouse Foundation VIC - Lighthouse Foundation provides therapeutic homes and creates a caring community for homeless kids and foster families. FutureSteps has provided a grant of $100,000 to refurbish an existing property to create a transition house for women and girls escaping early and forced marriage who are ready to move to more independent living.
